Joey having a hard time swallowing?

Oh man I was up all night googling "my dog is having a hard time swallowing" and came up with Cricopharyngeal Achlasia! Since last Saturday Joey has really been having a hard time with swallowing when he drinks or just in general. And then a cough was coming up like he had to purge something out of his chest! yesterday got so bad I took him to the vet who took x-rays and found nothing in his throat thank goodness but couldnt explain what was wrong! Then last night it got frightening! he was really having a hard time and he just couldnt swallow even his own spit! Today we got in with our own Dr C and she kept him for about 4 hours, and sedated him so she could look down his throat but she found nothing! But she said I could go to a specialist to do an esophogical exam which is 1800.00 and I said not yet! Cant afford that! But she also said she may have smelled something like an infection so she gave me antibiotics. The picture is of his new eating tray thats elevated so he doesnt have to bend all the way down and this may help the swallowing food. OMG friends, what would I do if my baby has something wrong? I hope and pray the antibiotics will help, otherwise, Ill have to do that exam! Have any of you out there had this kind of experience? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

You know???? Sammie has gone through periods of time (a month maybe) when it sounds like she has a chicken bone in her throat when she eats or drinks water and nothing has been wrong. It passes. I think, in the two years we've had her, that it's happened twice. I've been totally unaware of what brought it on, but more puzzling, what made it go away. One of those very weird things, which is no help whatever to you. If the vet, however, can't find a thing and it doesn't go away after anti-bio-tix, I don't know what to say. Just VERY glad that no one's found anything super yuck yet. That sounds good. Like Khyra says, "paws are crossed," and we send pawsitive vibes.

Don't be worried! If there was nothing on his throat it might be just an infection! Pipa had something similar a few month ago... she could swallow but she started couching and throwing things out after her meals... and she was always licking her nose... it was a throat infection! With antibiotics it went away!

We have our paws crossed!

Keep us posted.
