Juvenile Panosteitis

I have heartbreaking news. Kealani was diagnosed today with Juvenile Panosteitis. Its an inflammation of the bone, usually in the long bones of the front legs in growing dogs. It started last Friday when she came in from the outside playing with Joey. She was limping and I was wondering if she broke something or got stung by a bee. I instantly called Auntie Sue and she came over and checked her paw. We didnt see anything in her pads and her foot didnt look broken. So she seemed to get better with some rest but then today I took her to the vet to make sure and he had a hunch it is Panosteitis. So I got some Metacam for pain and was hoping she would feel better within the week. BUT THEN at 330 today I noticed her not walking on the other foot!!! She wouldnt put it down and she just wouldnt walk! I panicked and called the vet and rushed her over. Again he said its Panosteitis and that it should go away in a couple of weeks with rest and medicine. So she has inflammation of her bones IN BOTH front legs!!!!!!! So, we will be laying low for a while. Sorry friends, I havent posted much lately and I will be busy giving Kealani lots of hugs and kisses, Oh and Joey too! :) Keep us in your thoughts friends.

House Guest

We were fortunate enough to be able to watch Harley for the evening tonight! She is the sweetest, loving, quiet, well behaved dog Ive known! She loves scritchy scratches! And I swear she looks like she is smiling! She puppy played mostly with Kealani and when she wasnt playing she was quietly laying on the tile. She didnt ask for much and was fully content to lay by my feet while I was on the computer. She is an angel! What a pleasure and a nice change for Joey and Kealani!

Joey having a hard time swallowing?

Oh man I was up all night googling "my dog is having a hard time swallowing" and came up with Cricopharyngeal Achlasia! Since last Saturday Joey has really been having a hard time with swallowing when he drinks or just in general. And then a cough was coming up like he had to purge something out of his chest! yesterday got so bad I took him to the vet who took x-rays and found nothing in his throat thank goodness but couldnt explain what was wrong! Then last night it got frightening! he was really having a hard time and he just couldnt swallow even his own spit! Today we got in with our own Dr C and she kept him for about 4 hours, and sedated him so she could look down his throat but she found nothing! But she said I could go to a specialist to do an esophogical exam which is 1800.00 and I said not yet! Cant afford that! But she also said she may have smelled something like an infection so she gave me antibiotics. The picture is of his new eating tray thats elevated so he doesnt have to bend all the way down and this may help the swallowing food. OMG friends, what would I do if my baby has something wrong? I hope and pray the antibiotics will help, otherwise, Ill have to do that exam! Have any of you out there had this kind of experience? Any advice is greatly appreciated!
