Joey got a birthday card from knaz his chatter friend at the PPO owl site!!! How cool is that??? Joey is 4 years old now!!! My precious baby is growing up so fast!!! But he is getting lots of hugs and kisses everyday!!! I love you Joey so much!!!!

Diagnosis

Well Joey has a fold in his duodenum which is preventing him from holding down his food. So I give him 3 tablespoons of canned Pinnacle holistic food with a handful of kibble. Every two to three hours. And so far today he has kept food down. But how long do I do this for? Joeys spirits are higher than mine if you can imagine.
*Sigh I just cannot imagine my life without him so I do what I can but its so hard when you are by yourself and I have no help.
I just wanted to give you an update that thankfully its not cancer. I go back in 2 weeks for a new blood test to test his enzymes in his liver. So there it is. I think its congentital and he was born with it. If there is anybody out there that might have information, please contact me at caboval12@sbcglobal.net and I will read anything you can offer me.
Thank you for all of your love and support it means so much to me you just dont know!!! Joey saved my life and I want to save his!!!!

I took Joey today for his emergency ultrasound and NO TUMOR was found and he has NO CANCER!!!!! Its was because of you and Joeys Guradian Angels and I cant thank you enough!!!!! It is a problenm with his liver enzymes that can be treated with medication and I am getting milk thistle to help cleanse his liver. The reason he cant digest his food is because he has a "bump" on his duodenem that is preventing food to reach his tummy, so thats why he has been throwing up for the past three weeks and he cant hold food. He has lost 10 lbs in 3 weeks!!!! The vet said to give him small portions of food during the day. Today so far so good as I got him some canned food that is soft and easy to digest. If you have heard anything like this before please contact me for advice!!! But THANK YOU for all of your prayers and well wishes for my Joey. I think we are going to be ok (I hope). I cant tell you how much your support has meant to me and helped me get through today. THANK YOU!!!! From the bottom of my heart!!!!

Please help me pray for Joey!!!! He hasnt been eating and what he does eat he throws it up! He has lost 9 lbs in 3 weeks and the vet says something wrong in his liver. His liver test is:

AST 100 normal is 15 to 66

ALT 881 normal is 12 to 118

ALK Phos 292 normal is 5 to 131

GGT 35 normal is 1 to 12

Bile test is 60.1 and normal is less than 25

I tried to feed Joey yesterday and he seemed to keep the 1/4 cup kibble down so I gave him a little more after 2 hrs and he threw everything up! I called the vet crying and he said he can get the ultrasound people to come in today at 10 am!!! So I have to leave my baby there for 2 hours. It will be the longest 2 hours of my life. The situation has gotton worse in the last 2 days and Joey is going down hill, fast. I cant tell you the heartbreak I am currently experiencing as he is only 4 years old and this just cant be happening. So, please I need prayers for Joey!!! Please!!!!

Sorry I havent been around much lateley Ive been so busy!!!! Im now moderating over at PPO which is and Eagle Owl that has made her nest in a potted plant on a balcony!! She has 3 eggs and they are due to hatch around Oct 4th or 5th. Its getting exciting!!!
Also the Blue Angels are in town so of course they fly right over my house and shakes the house and scares the dogs but its still kind of cool to see the planes. While I was taking those pictures I caught a hawk with something in his mouth!!! Lunch!!!

This picture was taken this evening Pappa owl brought PPO mamma a treat!!! She left her pot to go and eat the treat probably on the roof where she does her "business". Watching her is just amazing!!! Whew! The temps have been in the 90s and high humidity!!! We went to the beach today for Kealani and Joey to have some fun in the cool ocean. It was very nice there and they had a great time!!! But its a lot of work once you get home you have to bathe them and dry off with a towel and its back breaking work but its all worth it!!! Right now they are sitting in front of the fan relaxing!!! But I am beat!!! LOL!

Peek a Boo!!! Carlos found these owls in a hollow in a sycamore tree and we were lucky enough to see this. At one point Carlos ran back to his car and the owls stood up to see what he was doing and I got these other shots!!! Wow what an experience to see them in the wild!!!!!

YOU ARE JOEY!!!!! MY baby!! I love you so much ......Joey wants you to see his birds.... He accompanies me when I bring in the feeder and has to smell each peg and then goes out with me to hang the feeder. He knows the difference between crows, doves,hummers, and these birds. He wont chase them he intently watches them. I think he is more interested in lizards!

They fledged the next day after I took these pictures, here you can see they were older but still had a little bit of down on his head.

And THEN they grow up to look like this!!!!!

I have seen the orange ones around but a yellow one showed up today!!! If you know what kind of birds these are and what the colors mean I would love if you could tell me!!!! I think they are finches?

A Little Scary Excitement Yesterday!!!

WE were having fun in the backyard yesterday and I kept hearing sirens, and more sirens and more sirens THEN the helicopter showed up!!! There was a fire in the canyon 2 blocks from my house!!!! The helicopter was flying so low I ran to get the camera! The helicopter was doing water drops for about 20 mins and the smoke smell filled my house but I saw no flames thankfully they put out the fire!!! Whew! The last picture is the street lamp and you can see how low the helicopter was flying!!!! We are ok!!!

This plant had a plethora of owl pellets which we gathered, They were awesome and you could see what the owls eat!!! The bones and skulls are in the pellets!!! We have gone out to Dennis's he has a box up and the owls names are Lucy and Ricky.

Finally I am able to photograph these hummers with my newest camera!

Here is the male, he runs the whole neighborhood of hummingbirds here! Ive grown attached to these guys and have 2 feeders out. Im very careful to change their nectar 3 times a week so its super fresh. I think he knows who I am as he has never dive bombed me Haha! Oh and another season of owls have come around and now we have about 5 boxes to watch with cameras inside and Ive fallen for Willow and she has a blog too that I work on. Feel free to check it out!

Ok, here is our spot where we have to check all the pee mail everyday!!! All along this side of the street are all sorts of smells and new ones all the time!

This spot is espescially smelly and all sorts of smells for Joey and Kealani to check and it takes about 10 minutes to get through it! They have to smell every blade of grass!

How fun it was on Christmas morning! They got the hang of ripping the presents open and enjoying their treats!!! Whoo Hooo!!!

At dinner time I went over to Auntie Sues house where she had tons of food!!! She is a great cook! And I love being a part of the family there since I dont have my own family except Joey and Kealani. So it turned out to be a fantastic day all around!!!

Theres a lizard that lives in this tree that taunts Joey and Kealani like a squirrel would. He runs around the trunk so Joey and Kealani cant ever seem to catch him! Its fun to watch!!!!

Myke Ross is the best groomer! Voted top 3 on the A list and #1 in Ranch and Coast! he has been grooming for 6 years! Next to him is Jonti who is VERY sweet and helped me to my car gotta give him a shout out!!OK , this is what NOT to do!!! Dont let mats accumulate on your dogs! Brush your dogs!!! I was guilty of not keeping up on the brushing and this is what came off of Kealani!!!! Oh Im crushed!!! Mats hurt your dogs so keep them groomed!!!! Thats an order!

The thing I like about Dirty Dogs is its by a huge dog park and near a food court where you can have lunch with your dogs and then take them over to Dirty Dogs for a treat or a bath. You can also wash your dog there on your own!

Of course Joey and his antics, he carries socks around. I dont understand it but he likes scrunchies and socks and as many as he can fit into his mouth at once. I cant help from laughing!!!

And we live in the land of sheets..I have nice stuff, furniture but Ill be darned if Im going to get hair and dirt on them. LOL

Its a rainy day today, nothing much to do but I did run over to Target. I wanted to get Kealani a blanket for the corner of the couch she likes to sit on and watch what goes on in the front of the house. So when I got home I opened the bag and said Kealanis Blanket!!!! Lookie!!! Smell smell. Kealanis blanky!! and then I threw it over the corner of the couch. I came to my computer room to do emails and watch one of my favorite Ustream channels. And its been about an hour and Kealani isnt back here with me so I went to the front of the house and guess where she was? On her blankie. She KNOWS its hers!!!!! Heres some pics I have to share wth you! I came back to the computer and she is still on her blankie!!!! Oh shes too much!!!!

With Thanksgiving approaching, You know what Im thankful for and Im so blessed to have my babies in my life. I had a scare with a mammogram test and it makes you think about life and the things you love. Everything is ok but whew! Im blessed to be alive!!!!

It was only yesterday that I held you like a baby and put my face in your soft soft fur and amazed at your puppiness. I remember asking myself if I would be a good mommy, I admit I was scared of getting you!!! But look what happened! You rescued me from the low depths of sadness after my mom passed away. You brought me back to life and for that I would never be able to repay you, except give you my undying love ! Joey, words cannot express the love I feel for you and I give you my promise to love you forever, until the day I die. Thank you for showing me what its like to live again!!!! Happy 3rd Birthday my sweet boy!!!! I Love You!!!!

Dear mommy, I couldnt believe my eyes when it was you who came to pick me up!!!! How lucky I am that you would hold me close and smell my breath which I never knew why you would do that!!!! You brought me to a home that was safe and warm and I made lots of friends and had lots of toys!!! You are always there for me mommy and I love your scritchy scratches behind my ears, and I love it when you help me hunt for lizards, and I love it when we go to the beach!!! Well I havent been on blogging lately! So sorry about that!!! Ive been in watching Mollys owlets grow up and they have finally fledged!!! What and awesome story!!! Now the story is over so we can get our lives back around here!!!
Anyway, last night around 9:26 we had ANOTHER earthquake!!!! Goodness sakes it was a 5.7 and it was a rockin and rollin around here!!! Its the big blue box you see on the map. But nothing as bad as the Easter quake at 7.2!!!! Now THAT was scary!!!!
Joey kept coming up to me with his teddy bear and I was thinking, awe hes being so affectionate tonight!!! Then a few minutes later! Earthquake!!!! Yikes!!!
We are ok and there was no damage!

Empty Nest

I dont know if you remember me telling you about the baby birds outside of our front door. But yesterday I noticed it was very quiet out there. I went outside to look at the nest for the first time, it had always been covered with a ceramic iguana so we never saw the babies. But Joey and Kealani would watch through our screen door, as the mother bird would come in to feed the babies. And they would also run to see when they could hear the babies calling out for food. And always when we would come back from a walk they would never go over there to disturb them. Somehow I think they were showing respect for the nest! Anyway all was quiet yesterday so here is what it looks like, two eggs that never hatched! And the eggs were about the size of a marble. I hope the babies are doing fine!

Its with the heaviest of hearts, I have the saddest news that our beloved Maxdog has crossed to the Rainbow Bridge. Goodbye to one of our dearest of friends Max, thank you for showing us the light in your soul and we hope to meet you in heaven one day. We will love you forever!

Today I went with Sue to the Gateway Gardens Senior community and we did a therapy visit with her dogs, Kona and Harley. Oh they were naturals, getting lots of pets and attention from the seniors!!! Thank you Sue for letting me go with you today!!!

Midweek Meetup!

Yesterday we had a midweek meetup with our Golden Retriever Group!!! We went to one of our favorite parks that has restaraunts you can go and take your do to and eat at! It was a great time! Oh! and Sue asked me to become an Assitant Organizer for the group!!! What an honor!!! And we have over 800 members for San Diego!! Whooo Hooo!!!!!

Oh before we get to the wrestling match, I had bloodwork done on Kealani because she is about 10lbs overweight. Ive had her on a reduced calorie diet for about 3 weeks now and theres been no change. So the vet did a blood test and the results are .................normal!!!! She is on Natural Balance reduced calorie food. Joey has trimmed down but not Kealani! Any suggestions would be appreciated!!! Thanks!!! And Now in this corner!!!!!!!!!! (scroll down)
